Free antispyware removal software can be found with ease just about anywhere on the Internet these days. With nearly 90% of Internet users infected by some sort of spyware, it isn’t surprising that free spyware blocker programs have become so popular.
The obvious reason free spyware removers are so appealing is because everyone loves the word ‘FREE’! What could be more beneficial than removing frustrating spyware from our PC? Often many PC users are willing to pay to remove the ads and their associated software, but if they can do it for free, even better.
As with any business, offering something for free is a way to get customers ‘in the door’. Spyware software is no exception. Of all our testing we only recommend two complete free spyware blockers: Windows Defender and Lavasofts Adaware Free Anniversary Edition.

One of the most important features of any great antispyware software is the continuous updates. The ‘bad guys’ are constantly coming up with new adware, spyware, viruses, and everything else that harms our computers. The only way to keep the new threats from infecting our computers you need to have the latest, most up-to-date antispyware software.
With the free products you get updates but they are much farther apart. With pay products you can expect to get new updates sometimes as often as a few updates in a day!
This is the biggest reason that we recommend you have BOTH! Yep, we think and practice the use of a free spyware blocker and at least one pay spyware blocker loaded on our computers.
Many of you with the current version of Vista have the Windows Defender automatically loaded (just look in your list of programs). We have Vista on our machines but encourage the use of Lavasoft’s free version of their antispyware products. We also run one of the four pay products and many of all pay products require Windows Defender to be disabled. However, this doesn’t make Windows Defender a weak product. Its just with all of our testing we think its best to use a free and pay product because we feel you will get the most protection this way. And unfortunately, most pay products can’t run with Windows Defender enabled.
